Profile

A fracture on the left-arm and two hit-wicket dismissals marked Sunil Ambris's debut Test series. A not so memorable beginning indeed.

His first ball in Test cricket was like this: This was short and angling across the right-hander, Ambris went deep into his crease as he nudged the ball towards the on-side, the momentum took him a little further backwards and he ended up trodding back onto the stumps, one bail falls and the batsmen who was getting across for his first run, heard a sound, turned around and walked away despondently. Ambris also becomes the first batsman in Test cricket to get out hit-wicket for a golden duck on his debut.

Things only got worse for him as Trent Boult did the same in the second Test and then the worst transpired as trying to avoid another short ball, he fractured his left arm. His maiden Test series had ended and that too on a painful note, mentally and physically.
